❓❓ Why Are Healing Modalities Named Differently If They All Work with Energy?
You’ve probably asked yourself:
“If everything is energy, why are there so many different healing modalities?”
You’re not the only one.
As a holistic healer, I regularly encounter gorgeous souls who’re overwhelmed by the names — Reiki, Distant Healing, EFT, Access Bars, Bach Flower… It’s like a sea of labels when all you want is peace and clarity.
The reality is simple:
All healing modalities tap into the same universal energy — the life force that flows through us, referred to as prana, chi, or Reiki energy.
Yet each one interacts with that energy in its own distinct manner, like various languages conversing with the same soul.
Let’s take a walk and discuss why these healing ways are differently named — and how they all converge to the same place:
Balance. Wholeness. Inner peace.
- Every Healing Path Has Its Own Birth and Purpose
Each healing system was born.
Just as we each have our own life path, these modalities were born out of the inner promptings and experiences of various individuals from various parts of the world.
- Distant Healing was developed by Master Choa Kok Sui in the Philippines, combining ancient Eastern philosophy with a systematic, scientific method.
- Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) originated from the U.S., created by Gary Craig, who desired to combine traditional Chinese meridian therapy with contemporary psychology to develop emotional healing devices for anyone to apply.
- Access Bars, under Access Consciousness, was founded by Gary Douglas, specializing in deleting limiting beliefs via head touchpoints.
- Bach Flower Remedies were formulated by Dr. Edward Bach, an English doctor who felt that emotional health was the cause of physical health. He resorted to the healing energy of flowers.
Each of these healing modalities came into existence because someone was looking for answers — and found a means of accessing the energetic field deeply.
And from their work, they provided us with healing tools as well.
- Various Tools — But Similar Energy
Though the healing source is the same loving energy, every modality employs their own holy tools and methods to channel that energy for your benefit.
Here’s where they differ in methodology:
- Access Bars is light touch on 32 definite points on the head where thoughts, beliefs, and feelings are stored. As these points are lightly switched on, mental static begins to clear, and space is created for new awareness.
- EFT (Tapping) is based on emotional release. You tap gently on meridian points (similar to acupuncture, but without needles) while speaking from emotion, releasing fear, grief, anger, or anxiety.
- Distant Healing is done without touch. Instead, it includes scanning your aura, clearing energetic blockages, and charging certain chakras with the healer’s hands moving in sweeping motions.
- Bach Flower Remedies are swallowed as oral drops. They hold the delicate vibrational essence of flowers and subtlety change your emotional disposition. If you’re experiencing fear, sorrow, self-doubt, or indecisiveness — there’s a flower for that.
Every approach taps a different door to healing — body, mind, emotions, or spirit.
- Various Healing Needs, Various Focuses
Let’s face it — some days we require emotional comfort, and some days we seek profound energetic cleansing or clarity of mind.
Every healing modality addresses a different need, depending on where you are in your process:
Healing Modality Core Focus
Distant Healing Chakra cleaning, aura restoration, physical energy
EFT (Tapping) Emotional release, trauma healing, anxiety management
Access Bars Mental quietness, subconscious blocks, clarity
Bach Flowers Gentle emotional support, balancing moods
You’re not wrong for needing different things at different times.
Your soul knows what it needs. These healing paths are simply ways to listen.
- Honoring Your Inner Resonance
Healing is not a “one-size-fits-all” experience.
Some of us most feel comforted by hands-on energy work. Some of us feel most attracted to talking, tapping, or drinking flower essences.
That’s the gift of having many names and many paths — you can pick the one that speaks your soul’s language.
No matter whether you are:
Logical and analytical
Soft and emotional
Spiritually curious
Just starting out on your healing path
There is a method that will meet you where you are.
I always instruct my clients:
Don’t overanalyze what’s “best.” Rather, speak with your heart and Gut — “What feels gentle and safe for me today?”
And that is the way to be.
Ponder this:
Energy is like sunlight.
The various modalities? They’re merely distinct windows allowing that light in.
No matter what label you decide — Reiki, Distant Healing, EFT, Bach Flower, Access Bars or whatever — the intention remains the same:
To give you peace
To rebalance
To re-mind you of the wisdom already within you
To remember: You are complete. You are sufficient. You are light.
So, listen within. Allow your inner knowing to guide you.
The energy will take care of the rest.
